About the image: This is a finely detailed painting reminiscent of a traditional botanical work yet in dark, rich, more dramatic tones.   

This is one of a number of paintings I was inspired to paint at the suggestion of an extremely accomplished interior design friend. 

Orchids were a favorite of hers as well a favorite of mine and we had some fun, creative days together shopping at the famous farmers market near her place in the LA /Beverly Hills area and setting up still life scenes for her to take pictures of for a photography class she was taking for fun at the time.

This eye-catching image was not painted using one of her photos as reference but was inspired by those times.

An aside about this image may be to know that a suggestion from her would hold some weight, some heavy weight in the interior design world.  My friend, who passed away too early left a legacy design business with talented partners also 'known' in the industry.  I was and am so proud of this childhood friend - but very sad to have lost her way too early as are many.
