About the image: The original Balboa Park ~ Centennial Tribute painting is over 7.5 ft in width and over 5 ft tall. The Masterwork features many of the signature landmarks of the park which include those seen in this image and more. This is one of 3 different images that have been created from the original painting that took a year to complete.

In this image you see the tiled Domes of the Casa del Prado in the distance along with some of the arched walkways that are in many areas throughout the park along with a part of the famous Lily Pond.

Both the Lily Pond and the Casa del Prado were constructed for the 1915 Panama – California Exposition. The Lily Pond was built as a reflecting pool and still features water lilies and lotus. Balboa Park is recognized as one of the top 10 U.S. parks.

Fun painting fact is that though the original painting is quite large, the majority of the detailed areas covering most of the painting required using bushes sized 1, 0, 001, 002, 003 – and, this is the painting where I started wearing glasses full time when I paint!
