Jazz is an Original Oil painting on canvas that is 36” square – unframed.

About the painting: Jazz came about in an interesting way.   I was asked if I would present a number of concepts for a Jazz concert to be held in the Lake Tahoe area.   One of the concepts  I came up with was  Jazz.   The image ultimately chosen for the event was a more realistic painting of the lake - but I painted Jazz anyway because I liked it!

The  very 'loose' beginning concept for Jazz began with an initial computer ‘sketch’ that I included with the photos of this painting that you can see.

In that picture, you can see  the incredible pink outer space / star image.  In my mind it is like a cosmic heart of the image and I thought of  music notes coming from it along with instruments -  a guitar,  a unique horn, a piano keyboard along with a rainbow and a special blue butterfly.  That sketch – morphed into the JAZZ as painted with just  the hints of those original objects  in the squared and 'tiled' abstraction of that original rough concept - all  with a ‘feel’, I thought,   of Jazz!

That actual event that got the painting of this image and the other one of Lake Tahoe painted was called off– but at  the same time that the Jazz event was to have taken place – I had been given a one woman show at a gallery inside of the large Hotel Casinos - the MontBleu Resort Casino.  The show opening and the event were to have tied together.  The cool thing was that regardless of the event being called off, the show opening night was a full live Jazz event with incredible Jazz world names playing the entire night.
