About the image: Colorful birds and parrots, like so many of the animals of the world are amazing and magical to look at, appreciate and wonder about.
The status of all macaw species in the wild are of concern and the majority of macaws are now endangered in the wild - several critically endangered and 5 or more species already extinct.
There are two parrots in this image that were my parrots! For more than a dozen years we had a Blue and Gold Macaw and a Scarlet Macaw. The Scarlet Macaw is the red parrot in the center. The names of our birds were Blue Clown and Scarlet.
This is an imaginary rain forrest scene with these beautiful birds congregating peacefully.
After starting a family the daily responsibility of Blue Clown and Scarlet, who where tame and who wanted daily attention and handling, and who also came with the bonus of lots of daily mess to tend to along with lots of noise at times was just looking to be too much. We gave the parrots to a couple who had a very large aviary set up better than the best of 'walk in' zoo aviaries.
It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to our Blue and Scarlet but knew that the neighbors in our tight together beach community we had moved to on top of the time constraints that mounted quickly with a kiddo in the house - it was the right move.
I like to imagine Blue and Scarlet with other birds in a spot much like the one in my painting which there was in their new home. I like to imagine them happy, content, safe and well taken care of.
